A birds nest in a boiler is a fire hazard. The dry flammable materials like twigs and leaves that birds use to build their nest can ignite when the boiler is in use. This creates a fire risk in your home. 

A birds nest in a boiler is a carbon monoxide hazard. The nest can block the flue leading to a build up of carbon monoxide.

Birds can nest in boilers over the spring and summer months while the boiler is not in use. They can enter from the flue if it is not covered by a sufficient mesh cage or chimney cowl. 

We always advise servicing your boiler annually but if your boiler flue is not covered then we would recommend having your boiler serviced before you start using it again.
