Aged Tank

The lifespan of an oil tank is approximately 15 to 25 years. Tanks can start to show signs of wear, corrosion and structural failure as they age.
The tank itself can appear faded. Direct sunlight and high temperatures can cause bleaching and deteriorate the plastic of the tank causing cracks, splits or bulging.
The tank is not the only element to age. The pipe fittings, filter and valve can also rust and corrode. This increases the risk of an oil tank leak.
Damp spots around the tank, dead grass or vegetation, increased fuel consumption or the smell of oil can all indicate a leak.
