Has your tank moved off its base?

It's a wonderful feeling when you have topped up your oil tank, ready for the following winter .... Not for this customer!!

Unfortunately they had not realised prior to their oil fill that the tank had moved slightly off its base. The tank, now full to the brim and at its heaviest weight was left unsupported and beginning to sag.

As you can see from the image the weight of the oil was putting pressure on the tank and it was only a matter of time before a crack would appear. 

The tank was drained and concrete lintels installed to add addition support to the tank base and no oil was lost... phew!! 

Storms and strong wind can move tanks off their base. We strongly advise checking your oil tank and its base before your next top up of oil.
